Day 1: Lukla to Phakding

Early in the morning we flew out from Kathmandu to Lukla airport.  A program titled Most Extreme Airports, broadcast on The History Channel in 2010, rated the airport as the most dangerous airport in the world with one runway that is only 350 meters in length going uphill.  The planes are small and the weight restriction is tight but my backpack was light enough to get onboard.

After arriving at Lukla Airport we hiked to Phakding.  There are no cars out here, just walking trails.

Starting Elevation: 9,100 ft / 2,800 m.   Ending Elevation 8,563 ft / 2,610m
